Located downtown (about 7 to 10 mins from here), they have a most excellent breakfast menu. My favorite item is actually the "Drive Thru Sandwich." It's a biscuit, bacon, strawberry jam, cheddar, and egg concoction that I often just grab to go. It's $5 for one (or what they don't advertise) two for $9.

Drinks & Nightlife
Upscale-ish. In Alaska terms, this means slacks or nice jeans and a pressed shirt. Great views of the city from the top of Hotel Captain Cook. Excellent service and a great place to have a conversation without excessive noise. Also, the Whale's Tail wine bar is in the same high-rise, which is also great.

Parks & Nature
Great views of the Anchorage bowl and the Auroras if they are out. You can check Aurora status here: http://auroraforecast.gi.alaska.edu.
In the summer: The road is fine. Just a bit bumpy.
In the winter: Studs or all-wheel-drive is recommended.
From the house, turn right out of the driveway, turn right onto Boniface, drive about 1.5 miles, take your first highway exit to the right heading towards Eagle River, and exit at Arctic Valley. Turn right towards the mountains. Keep driving until you get to Arctic Valley Ski Area.
