Site of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, the turning point of the British Southern Campaign and the battle which forced General Cornwallis to his final retreat to Yorktown. General Nathaniel Greene (our cities namesake) chose this spot after traveling north and South Carolina. While technically an American defeat, it so bloodied the British they left for Wilmington and to Yorktown. If you like military history a must see.
