Royal residency and armory of King James I. The building would be restored by Queen Mary in her reign & later becomes a plague hospital. Granted to Bernhard Lindsay in 1613 by King James VI, bestowing upon him the right to reconstruct the building and keep four taverns on the site. Complete with ghostly presence in the basement this building has stood in the heart of Leith for almost 600 years.
