Drinks & Nightlife

One of the oldest and least changed pubs in Mevagissy. Excellent food served in bar - fresh local fish. Inexpensive and atmospheric. Especially nice when fire lit in winter and it's rainy outside.

It's right next to Dolphin Cottage. When the tide is in you can swim or kayak from the slipway which is fun. When tide out there are rocky pools at the sides and lots of open sand to run about on. Dogs not allowed June-Aug.

A great beach for families - it has a quay (to jump off at high tide), stream (to dam up anytime), beach cafe, soft fine sand, safe bathing. A second beach next to it (Little Perhaver) for having a BBQ. Nice friendly place with other familes in Summer. There's kayak hire on the beach and there are some lovely coves and beaches inaccessible except by water, nearby.

Shopping

Great variety of small shops with everything from cheap toys and junk for children to fine quality clothes. Furniture and souvenirs. The local Green grocer's shop is tiny and full of lovely fresh local produce, plus fridge ull of delecatessen stuff etc. The caravan on the quay sells fish from the boats just in, plus local scallops & mussels. There's a good second hand bookshop.

Arts & Culture

This small local museum is a whole world of interesting commonplace stuff from times not long past - but now almost unimaginable (until you've been round the museum, that is). Domestic items and fishing gear that have beauty as well as utility. A rare, unmodernised museum created and run by the people who have lived here forever - really inspiring.
