Trento is well worth the visit, elegant, simple to negotiate and quite frankly, spectacularly beautiful. If possible drive from Riva, head north through Arco taking the secondary SS45bis, for a drive through superb lake and mountain scenery. Castles which float on lakes, vineyards, the whole journey is a scenic trip in itself. Once in Trento, visit the grand Duomo, take a coffee in the main Piazza, and just spend time wandering the rewarding streets. Restaurants buzz at lunch, the choices are many. There are so many visit options, including Castello Buonconsiglio, that one day is probably not enough, however, we love to just lose ourselves roaming the day away..

Directly underneath our apartment, Restaurant Leon D'Oro run by the Salvaneschi family is ideal for your special occasion evening. Elegant authentic décor, excellent local food (provided you order a la carte), especially if you let them know you are coming... select your favourite table and book. Mama arrives each day with fresh flowers or seasonal goods to add the personal touch, the cellar is excellent, including the best of local wines (try the Lugana from the Lake), so do not let the pizzeria type exterior exclude you.. take a look inside at the exquisite dark wood atmosphere, the crisp white linen tables set elegantly underneath original vaulted ceilings.

Guaranteed to create a memorable moment, we never tire of this ritual.
