Sunnyside Oyster Bar has been around since 1935 and the locals and out of towners love it. Diners sit around a bar and shuckers dish up the oysters raw or steamed. Open only in months with an "R" in them.

The Cypress Grill on the Roanoke River was a landmark for over 50 years. Sadly it burned - but the good news is they have re-opened in the Belk's shopping mall and the food is even better. If you are brave ask for the cremated herring or herring roe. They aren't on Google Maps but they really are here!
