Enjoy miles of hiking along Minnehaha Falls and along the Mississippi River. In the summer, eat at Sea Salt while listening to live music. In the winter, wonder at the frozen falls.

The paved biking and walking path along the Mississippi is terrific, but for a serene hike, take the Winchell trail closer to the river. On this path, you can hike for miles and easily forget that you are in a city. Various sections lead to beaches on the river, rock formations, and stairways back to the main road. It's especially beautiful in the fall.
You can easily walk to this trail from my house. Take 38th Street east to the river and take the stairs down to the path.
