Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, making brunch somehow, by extension, the most important social meal of the weekend. So, finding a good brunch spot is serious social currency. To step inside to be overwhelmed by the beauty of the interior, curated to make the most of the wall of glass that leads to the restaurant's courtyard. Breezeblock's design is an ode to the '70s with plants, panelling, pressed ceilings, paintings, mid-century furniture, tiled murals and the occasional spot of paint. https://www.facebook.com/breezeblockbrixton/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE

Leafy Greens, is a vegan restaurant in the countryside and around 30 minutes from Melville. The food is delicious and best would be to take your plate of food ( buffet style ) and then to go and sit on the grass between the vegetable gardens and overlook the landscape and mountains. Far in the background you will see Johannesburg. Everything is grown organically. This is the closest countryside spot to Johannesburg. Try the strawberry, coconut, almond cake and a nice smoothy

This is a very trendy spot in Parkview in the beautiful Tyrone avenue. Officially this places has the best coffee, and the fastest WIFI in town. So if you HAVE to work on your holiday then this place is quite nice. I personally love the samon salad or the spicy lentil salad. They also have a killer banana bread that works well for a 11 o'clock snack with tea. This street is great for browsing and a hour of two of looking around. Art Africa ( listed here ) is almost right next to the coffee shop.

Wits Art Museum is home to an extraordinary collection of African art, including contemporary and historical art from South Africa and art from West and Central Africa. It hosts a dynamic program of events and art exhibitions. The Museum is one of Johannesburg's premier tourist attractions, along with the Apartheid Museum and Constitution Hill. It is part of the Wits University Cultural Precinct, just three blocks from Nelson Mandela Bridge. WAM is in the hip, regenerating area of Braamfontein, which is also home to many students, interesting shops and places to eat. The WAM Cafe is a fun place to meet friends and enjoy delicious food and coffee. 15 minutes from Melville
