One of the best sushi places in Cape Town. Best for fish dishes and you cannot get better. I buy all my fresh fish from Willoughby and George who has been there forever is my favourite and always helps with great fresh fish choices for me to take home. We also love eating at Willoughby and cannot faulty their high standard of food. Please be aware they do not take bookings so you have to queue which is Ok and the queue goes quickly. It is worth the wait. It does not have a view but the food makes up for the lack of a view. Hire a Harley Davidson and take the love of your life for a trip around the peninsula and stop off for lunch. Be careful not to drink and drive.

This is luxury dining where the setting steals the show, with tables and a bar right on the private beach. A little pricey but the food is good and the whole upmarket beach bar experience not one you will find elsewhere on the city's public beaches.

While the Radisson is part of a chain, its restaurant has something which (strangely) few other Cape Town venues have: restaurant tables right on the waterside. Sitting under an umbrella on the deck, looking out over Robben Island in the distance and the waves crashing a few metres away, this is just blissful. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is offered.

This cafe/deli is an excellent stop for delicious sandwiches, bread, freshly prepared meals, fresh juices, coffee, and it has an international selection of sauces, meats, cheeses, wines... you name it! What also adds to s great atmosphere is that you basically eat and drink on the pavement but with an Italian 'bar' experience.

Devoted to the art of making excellent coffee. Diverse origins of coffee introduce the flavour of a number of nations, just a few examples being Tanzania, Kenya, Bolivia, Colombia, Brazil and India. Also open on a Sunday! which is unusual for Cape Town.

Italian clothes and food at its best. Also one of the few local purveyors of Aesop. Take a stroll around the picturesque De Waterkant which was a Portuguese shipping and fishing mecca before it was gentrified and now boasts as the pride of the local LGBT scene.

An ode to chef/designer Jacques Erasmus’ love of modern, rich and interesting design, and the Afrikaner food of his childhood. You’ll find warming marrowbone soups in winter and zingy salads such as shaved coleslaw with prawns, golden sultanas, chilli and fresh ginger in summer. It’s small but very stylish.

Serving up Argentinian asado (barbeque), all the meats at Don Armando are grilled on charcoal and accompanied by chimichurri. Sirloin is juicy, and short rib is smoky and moreish. Neatly tucked into the area’s The Foundry complex, the classy salon, which thrust open its doors in 2011, is all about providing quality cuts in a laidback, let’s-meet-the-guys-for-a-chilled-drink setting. “I wanted a shop that's main purpose was caring for hair - actual care and attention to every single cut. At Blokes Hair, clients get treated right, with respect, and they can also have a shitload of fun,” says owner Brian Oosthuizen, who is also affectionately known as Cape Town's 'Queen of Cuts'. Blokes Hair, which works on an appointment-only basis and offers standard cuts, clipper cuts, styling and scalp treatments, also prides itself on being one of the few male grooming establishments in Cape Town that offers bespoke haircuts for men. What this means is that aside from just sitting down with a client to discuss exactly what they are looking for in a haircut, Brian will tailor the cut and style to the client’s specific needs (or wants) and to their lifestyle. http://blokeshair.com/

The latest addition to the Madame Zingara stable has been restored to industrial chic, with a splash of the Wild West and just a hint of mischief. This iconic eating, meeting and chilling spot is the longest standing venue in the heart of de Waterkant village and has been a firm favourite with locals and tourists alike. Whether your intention is a quick bite to eat, a cheeky afternoon cocktail on the terrace, or a late night rendezvous in the bar, at this welcoming venue anything could happen... From a stellar eatery in the day, Shimmy Beach Club transforms into a glimmering dance venue from the afternoon and long into the night. On summer nights, it’s hard to rival the atmosphere of a Shimmy Beach Club party as the DJ spins his beats while revelers jol in the sand. That’s right; it’s not a beach club for nothing, as Shimmy has brought the beachfront to the dance floor. With two bars, an infinity pool and private seating areas for VVIPs, there’s a little bit of magic infused with every session. Have a blast on the beach, in the lap of luxury, until the sun comes up.
