This is not a commercial coffee tour, it is an educational experience to create awareness in the only organic specialty coffee plantation in the Monteverde area, located in the Ecological Sanctuary, a 48 hectares family project focused on conservation, sustainability, agroecology, education and culture. In a guided workshop by an expert where you will learn from the basics of ancestral agriculture, how we create our own organic fertilizers, then you will know the coffee gardens planted in the forest that surrounds the Ecological Sanctuary, the drying area, and the process that involves the specialty coffee (history, plantations, growth, development, varieties and the science of flavor to prepare a good coffee). After leaving the forest, we will enjoy a guided coffee tasting, sharpening the senses to recognize defects, attributes, aromas and flavors in different qualities of coffee. Finally, we will create an interactive demonstration of the science of flavor and all the variables that an alchemist applies in the preparation of a coffee using different infusion methods. This workshop is an experience that will expand your knowledge of the world of coffee and help you become a home barista and an informed consumer. The Coffee'N Jungle tour is a blend of Costa Rican coffee culture and nature that includes the following 3 or 4 activities, depending on if is the day or the night tour: 1) COFFEE TOUR Throughout the interesting coffee process, that ranges from baby plant care to the roasting, we reveal simple but important "secrets" that will enable the visitor to choose a good coffee when they return home. Of course, we do not put aside the taste of our great coffee. At this point, we will show our visitors the simplest and easiest way to prepare a delicious cup of coffee. 2) MINI CHOCOLATE TOUR Cocoa has been one of the greatest legacies of our indigenous ancestors, it is the basic component of chocolate which is appreciated throughout the world today because of exquisite taste and important properties. On this tour, we show you the most interesting aspects of the chocolate in a delightful way. 3)MINI SUGAR CANE TOUR A very fun part of our tour because, apart from a brief explanation about this crop, the visitor receives the opportunity to extract the tasty juice in an artisanal way to prepare and taste our delicious cocktail called Jungle Juice. 4) NIGHT TOUR. Adventure and fun in the forest at night. The goal at this stage of the tour is the observation of the nocturnal wildlife (such as frogs, mammals and insects) which normally can not be seen during the day.

After booking our experiences, you will arrive at our kitchen where you will be very welcome and where you will share a good time with an authentic Costa Rican family. After introducing ourselves and getting to know each other over a refreshing drink, we will take you on a tour of our organic garden, where you will learn about the different crops and aromatic plants, followed by picking some of the ingredients that we will use for the preparation of our dish. When we return to the kitchen we will prepare a refreshing mojito to proceed to prepare a typical dish with fresh ingredients, produced by us and our neighbors. At the end of the preparation of the dish, we will consume everything prepared in a family atmosphere. If you come with more time than agreed there is a good chance to observe some animals such as frogs, birds and sloth that live in our garden.

We'll start birdwatching at 6:00 AM, where we'll see about 30 different species of birds at an elevation of about 4,500 feet above sea level. Then we'll stop at a cafeteria, where we will have a chance to check some bird feeders as we enjoy a great cup of Costa Rican coffee. After that, we'll move up to Curicancha Reserve where we'll walk through two different life zones including different types of forests (secondary, transitional and primary) plus open areas where we'll be able to see much more variety of birds or Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve to be at a different elevation—about 5,000 feet above sea level—where we'll see much more interesting birds, including the resplendent quetzal, guans, barbets, three-wattled bellbirds, tinamous, and so many others. Typically we would see 60 to 70 different types of birds. Other things to note Bring binoculars, a bird book, hiking shoes, insect repellent, rain gear, and a hat.

There are 2 options of intensity (A) HIKERS (default option) and (B) RELAXED (text me to request the Relaxed version prior to booking). The RELAXED option is a beautiful easy going walk, which can accommodate special accessibility needs like wheelchairs, strollers, and mobility impairments. The HIKERS option is more demanding and it includes hiking at the foot of the volcano, walking over old lava rock, and visiting a 400 year old Ceiba tree. Join me in exploring the cloud forest from a different perspective, a night walk is a unique and unforgettable experience. Costa Rica is a small country in Central America that is home to around 5% of the world's biodiversity. Most animals in Costa Rica are nocturnal. If you like mammals such as sloths, armadillos, active birds such as owls, amphibians, reptiles, and many insects, then this is the opportunity to carry out an outdoor activity and learn more about the nocturnal behavior of many species of flora and fauna. It is an easily accessible route of around 2 kilometers, the ‘jewels’ of the cloud forest shine brighter at night. With luck, we will even be able to observe the famous bioluminescent mushrooms. the place where I do the night walk is very close to the center of Monteverde Santa Elena, it takes only 5 minutes by car. Adentrémonos por la noche a uno de los bosques más famosos de Costa Rica y el mundo, el bosque tropical lluvioso a los pies del Volcán Arenal. Nuestra experiencia lo llevará a conocer la vida nocturna de este bosque donde podríamos observar aves nocturnas, algunos anfibios y reptiles como lo son las ranas de cristal, ranas arborícolas, ranas de lluvia y sapos como el sapito de bosque húmedo o el gran sapo gigante, serpientes como las corales, víboras como la bocaracá, mano de piedra o la famosa terciopelo, mamíferos como coatíes, armadillos, zarigüeyas, insectos como mil píes, hormigas, arañas, grillos así como gran variedad de plantas como las orquídeas, bromelias, helechos y musgos.

Nos reuniremos con el guía asignado en Sloth Watching Trail a las 8:00am, o en su hotel si es cerca de La Fortuna. (favor indicarnos que requiere transporte) Primero nos dirigimos a la majestuosa Catarata de La Fortuna, que tiene 70 metros de altura; donde si el clima lo permite, nos bañaremos en sus aguas cristalinas. (si llueve mucho no será posible) Estaremos alrededor de una hora y media en este lugar; luego tomaremos el minibús para dirigirnos al siguiente punto y uno de los más espectaculares, la caminata en el bosque tropical hasta la base del Volcán Arenal, donde visitaremos los coladas de lava de los años 1525, 1968 y 2010; Además mientras disfrutamos de este hermoso parque ecológico aprenderemos sobre los árboles y animales que habitan este lugar. (Aproximadamente dos horas hasta la base del volcán y una hora hasta la laguna verde). Luego del descenso disfrutaremos de un baño en la laguna verde de agua totalmente limpia y de formación volcánica. (Si el nivel está muy bajo no es permitido saltar al lago). Una vez que lo hayamos disfrutado, tendremos un almuerzo tradicional. Para finalizar retornamos al bus para dirigirnos al río natural de aguas termales (Rio Tabacón), donde disfrutaremos de un lugar majestuoso, también les colocaremos una mascarilla de barro volcánico. Para después de un gran día de aventura y experiencia, regrese a La Fortuna alrededor de las 4 pm.

We’ll explore a place that I like to name the Hidden Spot or La Poza as it’s known for the locals and some lucky tourists. This activity consists of going on a Hike that starts next to the parking place of La Fortuna Waterfall, then we’ll be hiking through the forest for around 25 minutes. After that, walking up to the river for 7 minutes until we get to the Hidden Spot which is an amazing swimming hole with clear and turquoise water where you can explore and enjoy the unique nature around. In a guided workshop by an expert where you will learn from the basics of ancestral agriculture, how we create our own organic fertilizers, then you will know the coffee gardens planted in the forest that surrounds the Ecological Sanctuary, the drying area, and the process that involves the specialty coffee (history, plantations, growth, development, varieties and the science of flavor to prepare a good coffee). After leaving the forest, we will enjoy a guided coffee tasting, sharpening the senses to recognize defects, attributes, aromas and flavors in different qualities of coffee. Finally, we will create an interactive demonstration of the science of flavor and all the variables that an alchemist applies in the preparation of a coffee using different infusion methods. This workshop is an experience that will expand your knowledge of the world of coffee and help you become a home barista and an informed consumer. We also invite you to explore more of our property by hiking our trails, and connecting with nature.

Nos reuniremos en Seven Tours junto a Rainforest Cafe, La Fortuna. Entonces viajaremos hasta el Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio por 1 hora y 15 minutos a través de bellas áreas de cultivos, ganaderías y bosque. Ya llegando allá, incluimos la entrada al parque Volcán Tenorio. Ahí realizaremos una caminata de alrededor de 3 horas dentro del bosque del parque para ver el río celeste, la catarata, los teñideros y los borbollones termales. (No es permitido bañarse en el río) pero luego tendremos tiempo para eso en otro lugar. En el trayecto de regreso visitamos el "Árbol de la Paz"; un gigantesco ceiba que es considerado uno de los árboles más viejos del país. Posteriormente nos trasladamos a un restaurante local para almorzar un delicioso plato típico o vegetariano, después de finalizar recorreremos los jardines detrás de este, hasta llegar nuevamente al Río Celeste; aquí si podrán darse un chapuzón en las pozas del río. Después de este refrescante baño, regresaremos a La Fortuna. Otros aspectos destacables: No se pueden traer botellas de plástico desechable, así que lleven su botella personal. Se debe tener buena condición física para realizar una caminata de varias horas. Llevar zapatos adecuados y traje de baño, toalla, además una mochila con ropa extra, chubasquero y si quiere algunas frutas o barras energéticas.

Adentrémonos por la noche a uno de los bosques más famosos de Costa Rica y el mundo, el bosque tropical lluvioso a los pies del Volcán Arenal. Nuestra experiencia lo llevará a conocer la vida nocturna de este bosque donde podríamos observar aves nocturnas, algunos anfibios y reptiles como lo son las ranas de cristal, ranas arborícolas, ranas de lluvia y sapos como el sapito de bosque húmedo o el gran sapo gigante, serpientes como las corales, víboras como la bocaracá, mano de piedra o la famosa terciopelo, mamíferos como coatíes, armadillos, zarigüeyas, insectos como mil píes, hormigas, arañas, grillos así como gran variedad de plantas como las orquídeas, bromelias, helechos y musgos.

This is a tour of the senses, smell floral aromas of various tropical flowers, taste the medicine within the plants, hand harvest seasonal crops all while sipping on a fruit smoothie or herbal tea. With over 100+ medicinal plants their garden will have you playing & creating for hours. Next, create with Edy as he teaches you about wood carving and jewelry making. Connect with your inner artist as he guides you on a journey of creation. It may be a wood carving or a wire wrapped ring, let your inner artist decide. Guests have the opportunity to create their own art & purchase pieces from Edy's collection. This is a small homestead where guests can relax, ask questions, & enjoy hands on experiences. Its a place to embody an artists lifestyle in the lush Costa Rican mountains. (LA MEJOR TIROLESA EN EL DOSEL DEL BOSQUE) Lo que vamos hacer e incluir es: 1- Siete cables de diferentes distancias, entre los 180 a 400 metros. 2- Dos caminatas cortas por senderos en el bosque. 3- Un Rapel de 50 metros de altura en una pared natural seca. (opcional para el que se anime.) también depende de condiciones climáticas y seguridad. 4- Visita para ver o comprar souvenirs a los indígenas Malekus. 5- Con el brazalete que le entregamos, tendrá derecho de entrada a las piscinas de Montaña de Fuego Resort, ubicado frente a nuestro lugar. Si hace el tour de las 3pm y quiere hacer uso de piscinas, debe pagar un taxi de regreso. Nuestro ultimo transporte es a las 5:15pm. (opcional) Otros aspectos destacables: - Puedes traer cámara de acción personal que se pueda sujetar al equipo de seguridad. - Si lleva el teléfono celular, te recomendamos un bolsillo especial para atar al equipo de seguridad. The Coffee'N Jungle tour is a blend of Costa Rican coffee culture and nature that includes the following 3 or 4 activities, depending on if is the day or the night tour: 1) COFFEE TOUR Throughout the interesting coffee process, that ranges from baby plant care to the roasting, we reveal simple but important "secrets" that will enable the visitor to choose a good coffee when they return home. Of course, we do not put aside the taste of our great coffee. At this point, we will show our visitors the simplest and easiest way to prepare a delicious cup of coffee. 2) MINI CHOCOLATE TOUR Cocoa has been one of the greatest legacies of our indigenous ancestors, it is the basic component of chocolate which is appreciated throughout the world today because of exquisite taste and important properties. On this tour, we show you the most interesting aspects of the chocolate in a delightful way. 3)MINI SUGAR CANE TOUR A very fun part of our tour because, apart from a brief explanation about this crop, the visitor receives the opportunity to extract the tasty juice in an artisanal way to prepare and taste our delicious cocktail called Jungle Juice. 4) NIGHT TOUR. Adventure and fun in the forest at night. The goal at this stage of the tour is the observation of the nocturnal wildlife (such as frogs, mammals and insects) which normally can not be seen during the day.
