A morning hike to stunning city views, in a dog friendly park with our rescue dogs! We will enjoy a nice walk up hiking trails to the top of Runyon Canyon. Fantastic city views, and the perfect view of the Hollywood Sign! As you climb your way up the hill with your new pals in tow, you’ll be exercising and socializing the dogs, and letting locals know they’re up for adoption. You’ll also become a puppy paparazzi and take their photos in front of panoramic backdrops—you can even pose with them with the famous Hollywood sign behind you. Your pictures will then be used to generate interest in the rescue organization, attract potential adopters, and bring in donations that will help further care for and foster the dogs until they find their forever homes. This experience is great for groups and great for teams! We love to host private and corporate groups, and socializing with the dogs is great for team-building! Other things to note: We will be in direct sun, so bring sunscreen and other protective wear. There are no bathrooms in Runyon Canyon. Your friendly dog is welcome to join us! Before you come: We will try and contact you to size you for a wetsuit/board to help speed up the pre-lesson portion, and also give you an update on the conditions for your lesson. 20 minutes before the lesson: We will have you sign a waiver and get into your wetsuit. First 45min- hour of lesson: We will be on land and cover all of the basics, technique, and safety. The following 30-40 minutes: we'll be in the water together. I'll help you get into waves and give you instruction in the water to help you surf your first wave(s) The remaining time: you'll show what you've learned, We'll be a little more hands-off and either join you in the water or watch from the beach. We'll drive/walk through the historic Hancock Park neighborhood, once home to silent film stars like Buster Keaton, music legends like Nat King Cole, and moguls like Howard Hughes. The uniquely preserved mansions in the area were home to the city's wealthy elite at a time when Beverly Hills was just a lima bean farm. You'll see the theater where 13-year-old Judy Garland was discovered, the house from "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?", and the apartment building made famous by Mae West. You'll hear stories about racist neighbors, deadly drunk driving accidents, the Mexican-American war, JFK's shenanigans during the 1960 Democratic National Convention, the origin of Ralphs Grocery Stores, '80s movie villains, Freemasons, and Prince William and Princess Kate's honeymoon. From there, I will assist in writing and recording your song; acting as a producer/engineer along the way and guiding you as you tap into your own creative flow! Don't know how to play an instrument? No problem! I am more than happy to play and record any instrument you'd like as I've got an enormous library of samples and many real instruments in my studio. We will write and record the full song and and at the end of our 4 hour session you will receive all the files. When you tell your friends you are kayaking The LA River, do they respond: "The one in "Chinatown" and "Grease" without water in it? This is not "that" river. Well, not that part. Navigate two miles of Los Angeles' hidden waterway in a truly unique way: kayak it! While you can watch Dunaway or Travolta from your dry living room, lets get off the couch and feel as if in Thailand, 'Nam, Florida . . . or "another LA." Coast through calm water, ending at a mini-waterfall where the Tillman Water Reclamation Plant and Lake Balboa feed into the river. It's monitored by Heal the Bay and Federal and local city governments for water quality. Guess the entire river's length! I offer one sit-on-top kayak and one sit-in kayak that rocks side to side more than the sit-on-top one. Paddles and life jackets provided. Specifics: 1. Bird watch where we've spotted great blue herons, osprey, snow egrets, and cormorants. 2. See edible cattail; fig trees, hemlock, willow and cottonwood. 3. Converse about the history and city's plans for development. Learn what architect is on board to redevelop the river (no Googling). Other things to note Will get feet wet and your bottom. Prior to boarding, pose like a seasoned pro for a photo shoot with the airplane. Once you’re on board, the pilot will give you an overview of the instruments and controls. After getting clearance from the tower, you’ll taxi to the runway for takeoff. Once at cruising altitude, you’ll learn basic flying skills in the training area over the Simi Valley. Then, grab hold of the controls and feel free to move about the skies, exploring LA by air. Finally, in preparation for landing, you’ll come back down to earth at Van Nuys Airport. Other things to note IMPORTANT : This experience is currently only offered as a private experience.
