Hidden Stairways of San Francisco
Please note: this walk is not at all strenuous. Obviously there's some stairs but this is done at a leisurely pace and suitable for almost everyone. This breathtaking 2 mile walking tour of San Francisco's hidden stairways is the #1 rated Airbnb Experience in the Bay Area, loved by both locals and tourists alike. Great for families, friends and ideal for groups, company off-sites and team-building. See gorgeous mosaic tiled steps and hear the stories behind them, then take in stunning 360° views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park and downtown San Francisco. You'll also discover beautiful neighborhoods and gardens that many locals are not aware of and that tourists rarely see. Oh, and you might even go home with a succulent! I'll provide commentary, context and some history along the way. By booking this tour you are helping preserve and maintain these gorgeous stairs as I make annual donations to both projects. Generally SF is dry May-October. There can be fog in the summertime, mostly in the morning. Temps rarely above 70F (21C) or below 50F (10C). Rain may cancel. It will be necessary to carry small children as strollers are not suitable. More info hiddenstairs . com social: @hiddenstairssf
The Redwoods of Marin & Mt Tamalpais
We meet in Sausalito then shuttle to Mill Valley, where we start our walking exploration of Marin's magical redwood forest. Following quiet backroads and footpaths, we retreat to quiet groves of ancient redwood trees and follow spring-fed creeks to natural pools and cascading falls. In this peaceful forest, unique to the northern California and southern Oregon coastal region, the sequoia sempervirens soar hundreds of feet into the sky, providing an unequaled nature experience at base of mighty Mt. Tamalpais. Along the way, you learn about the coastal redwoods' amazing ecology and their clever adaptations for survival over many millions of years. It is a remarkable escape into nature on the slopes of beautiful Mt. Tam. Guests can also meet us in Mill Valley's Old Mill Park, where the walk starts at 10AM weekdays or 12:30PM on weekends. Weekday guests need to catch the 7:40AM ferry from San Francisco arriving at 8:10AM. Weekend ferry guests need to catch the 10:15AM Golden Gate ferry from the terminal behind SF's Ferry Building (foot of Market St.) The ferry arrives in Sausalito at 11:20AM. I will meet Sausalito guests outside the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce, 22 El Portal, at 9:30 weekdays and noon on weekends. If you need another start time, please contact me via Airbnb direct message. This refreshing walk is also ideal for groups and corporate team building outings!

Pottery in the Mission
We will start with some of the interesting history of the studio space. Then I will get you situated on the wheel and show you how to properly secure your lump of clay. After the clay is secured we start the wheel spinning nice and fast. I will show you how to center the clay which is a very important (and frustrating) stage of making pottery on the wheel. After we successfully center the clay, you will explore how the clay moves and reacts to your touch. We will work to form a simple shape such as a bowl or cup. To finish off we will do some clean up of the form and remove the piece from the wheel in order to start experimenting with the next piece. You can expect to get to practice with around 6 lumps of clay (more if you are ambitious) and most people will create 2-3 pieces by the end of the session. Pieces will be professionally finished, fired, and glazed after the experience. This process takes at least 3 weeks. After the pieces are finished you can pickup in the studio or they can be shipped. Shipping costs are paid by the guest. Other things to note Come wearing clothes that you don't mind getting messy. We will provide aprons. If you have long hair plan to have a hair tie or a way to secure your hair back. Trim long nails if you are able.

San Francisco Bay Sailing Awesomeness
Get a taste for what an awesome experience living, working and voyaging on a sailboat can be, while viewing fantastic landmarks from the uncrowded deck, using sustainable and eco friendly wind power. Perhaps choose an evening sail, and enjoy a wonderful sunset. We will be outside only, with plenty of space, breathing clean Pacific air! Get a little salty while we sail and chat about what it's like going far from land and crossing oceans, from endless waves and wind, to calm nights under starry skies. Get a feel for what it's like to live and thrive in a constantly moving small space, in a beautiful but unforgiving environment. Hear what it's like to battle Tuna and Sailfish while under sail, and have the freshest sushi minutes later. And to anchor in tropical anchorages, bathe in the sea, and surf uncrowded waves right from the boat. Ask as little or as much as you like about surviving storms, living in foreign countries, meeting great cruising friends, and unplugging from normal living to find another path. Perhaps, ask how you can get started yourself. Spend time aboard a beautiful, ocean-going yacht that has provided a safe and peaceful haven for her crew over the span of two decades in a green, earth friendly fashion.

The Redwoods of Mt Tamalpais Nature Art Walk
Embark on a creative escape into nature and the fresh air of Marin's majestic Redwood forest. Following quiet backroads and trails along spring-fed creeks to groves of soaring redwood trees. In this peaceful forest, unique to the northern California and southern Oregon coastal region, the sequoia sempervirens rise hundreds of feet into the sky, providing a unique habitat for wildlife. We stop to photograph natural pools and lovely Cascade Falls, where we create botanical prints on sunny days. These works of nature art use the cyanotype photographic process that makes beautiful Prussian blue prints of ferns and leaves we find along the way. On overcast days, we gather forest leaves along our route to create elegant botanical stencil prints. White wood frames with glass are provided for the print you make in the forest, a wonderful keepsake from this informative, visually stunning nature walk and photo outing led by local photographer, printmaker and writer Ben Davidson. Our three-hour outing meets in downtown Sausalito at 9:30AM weekdays and noon on weekends. We shuttle to nearby Mill Valley to start our exploration of the shady redwood forest canyons at the base of Mt. Tamalpais in the heart of Marin County. If the walk is booked and you can meet us in Mill Valley, we can accommodate you. Also see my Redwood Forests of Marin & Mt. Tam www.airbnb.com/experiences/61714

We do a different theme each class and I prepare an individual drawing for each student on watercolor paper. All students are provided materials and a spacious place to work. We will do a quick round of introductions and I'll explain our theme and painting in a beginner friendly step by step process. I will explain and demonstrate each step for students to paint each segment of the painting. You will learn basic water color technique as well as color and design methods. I am very excited to host you and to provide this artistic experience. As a teacher I love working with beginners and seeing their inspiration for art grow. You will learn technical skills to take home and continue your painting. See you soon!
Beekeeping in Coastal California
The Woolly Egg Ranch is located just a few miles north of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge on your way to Muir Woods. During your visit, we’ll put on beekeeping veils, open hives and learn all about honeybees. We’ll start the visit with a short farm orientation and learn the basics of beekeeping safety and etiquette before everyone puts on their veils. Then Jennifer will open hives, pull out frames of comb and show you what the bees are doing based on each season. You'll have the opportunity to sample honey fresh from the comb. For those feeling brave, you can even hold a frame of honeycomb in your hands while you watch the bees busy at work. Jennifer will share how these amazing animals live and work, and if we’re lucky you’ll even spot the queen among all those worker bees. Perhaps your curiosity of bees is tinged by a fear of getting stung. You’re not alone! Jennifer is an expert in leading people on beekeeping adventures, and she puts your comfort and safety first. She’ll outfit you with all you need and orient you so you can experience beekeeping minus the stings. This experience is great for people with an interest in keeping bees as a hobby, for birthdays and anniversaries, as well as folks in groups looking for team building activities.
