There are multiple access points to the Rainbow Trail along the west side of the wet valley. The rainbow trail traverses for over 30 miles along the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the west of Westcliffe and provides access to spur trials that access over 50 alpine lakes. The Rainbow trail is accessible to hikers, mountain bikes, horse back, and certain portions are accessible to motorcycles and ATVs.

Rainbow Train has several access points along the foot of the Sangres. Road 198 is towards the north end of the valley.
