Watchung Reservation is the largest park in Union County, New Jersey, United States. It is bounded by the city of Summit, the borough of Mountainside, and the townships of Berkeley Heights, Scotch Plains, and Springfield.
The Watchung Reservation History Trail is a 6-mile trail that visits and identifies sites of historic interest in Union County’s Watchung Reservation, a 2,000+acre preserve located in the northern portion of the County. The Reservation is an integral part of the Union County Parks system, designed by the Olmsted Brothers of Brookline, Mass., the celebrated landscape architects who designed New York’s Central Park and scores of other notable public lands.

Take the time to "get away" For a place that's right off of busy Route 22 its amazing how remote it feels once you enter it. You have no sense of being within 100 miles of any city and you're lucky if you get a single bar on your phone. If you want to get back to nature without going far at all this is the place.
