Cleadale Bothy on Isle of Eigg

Converted from the original croft cattle shed, the Cleadale Bothy offers basic self-catering accommodation for up to four people. Costs of £75 per night (regardless of number of people staying) include bedding, wood, gas and electricity. The bothy is located on our organic sustainable croft at the northern end of Eigg with stunning views looking Westwards over the Atlantic Ocean towards the Isle of Rum. Visitors have access to a shower and flushing toilet located close by. On sunny days there is plenty of hot water from our solar water heater. A compost toilet is also situated close to the bothy. Cleadale Bothy is a one room building with a wood burning stove, table and chairs, full size gas cooker (with up to date gas safety certificate), sink with cold running water and everything needed for basic self catering accommodation. Sleeping accommodation comprises a double bed settee and bunk beds. As well as food and drink, visitors need to bring their own towels and a torch. We ask that outside shoes are removed when entering so a pair of inside shoes is advisable as the floor in the kitchen area is not carpeted. We provide a hand towel and tea-towel with the bedding. Bath towels are available in the shower room.

With wide, open views out to the Isle of Rum, life in Sweeney's bothy is cosy, simple and completely relaxing. The bothy has everything you need - a wood burning stove, a small but well equipped kitchen, a super-comfy double bed, a table, an armchair and a library snug with an eclectic mix of fiction and non-fiction, maps and books about Eigg. Sweeney's Bothy sits beneath the cliffs of Cleadale in the north east of the Isle of Eigg, a community owned island with spectacular landscapes and abundant wildlife. Climb to the top of the incredible and unique Sgurr of Eigg for truly fantastic views. Paddle or swim off the magical Singing Sands or in Laig Bay. Then return to Sweeney's, eat and sleep well. Perfection.

A hillside hideout to escape, explore, rest and relax. Our light and airy bothan was specially commissioned by Studio Hardie, the bespoke craft team from Channel 4's Amazing Spaces. It is set in a grassy field overlooking an ever-changing vista of sea and mountains. Well-equipped and tastefully furnished, the bothan is a short walk from the pier, shop and ceilidh hall. Brave an invigorating swim in the sea, walk the beautiful hills or simply sit and soak up the tranquility.
