Experience Oslo from a different angle
I come from Oslo, and have a special interest in Norwegian culture and society. I work with historical dissemination on a daily basis, and have a good knowledge of Norwegian history (old and new times).
I have a good knowledge of unique places in the city and I think it's nice to be able to show my city to tourists and others who are interested.
One of my passions is food, and Norwegian food is really something that I think should get better international recognition. There are so many cool Norwegian dishes that the world should get to experience.
A nice trip would be to visit what used to be called "the poor's quarter" in the middle of central Oslo. Here you can find the old wall from the Kristiania Tukthus (educational prison for the poor and others). In addition, there was a workhouse nearby, which now houses, among other things, a restaurant and cafe. There we will have a break to have a coffee, if it's open. Otherwise we find another cozy place to sit down.
The Royal Palace is one of the places you must see when you are in Oslo. Every day there is a change of guards, which is a nice experience to see.
One of my favorite places is Oslo City Hall, where the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony also takes place. The building is beautifully decorated with amazing art inside.
