Tour-goers will meet their guide on Tahoe City's Commons Beach 15 minutes prior to launch (2 hours before sunset). We'll paddle South towards Sunnyside talking about Lake Tahoe's History while the sun begins to sink. After an hour of paddling South we'll pause for a brief photo opportunity and then turn around for our paddle back to Commons Beach. As we near our end point the setting sun will color the horizon and glassy smooth waters to deep pinks and purples. You'll get dramatic photos and an unforgettable experience for all! Start your day off at our Sport Shop, where I will personally fit you to the bike that suits you best! After a brief safety and usage tutorial you will take off to Bike Big Blue! Our recommended ride starts at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort sports shop. Ride the Lakeshore car-free bike path out to the all-new East Shore Bike Trail, newly renovated in 2019! After the two bike paths intersect at Nevada State Route 28, riders can safely journey southwest for 2.5 miles out towards Sand Harbor State Park, taking in all the majestic views Lake Tahoe has to offer. You have the option to stop and lounge at Memorial beach, Hidden beach, or San Hardbor. Many vistas dot the shoreline for ample resting and photo opportunities. Park the bikes (locks included) and check out Hidden and Memorial Beaches- two Tahoe gems! Turn around near Sand Harbor and double back- if you’d like we can take a stop at the Tunnel Creek Café, where you can grab refreshments and food! Then we will ride back passing the Hyatt for a visit to Billionaires Row. This tree-lined, waterfront road is brimming with draw-dropping, opulent but earthy homes, best viewed from the seat of a bike. Bring a beverage of choice, tour the Twain Gallery and settle into a casual conversation with The Ghost of Mark Twain (33 year impressionist McAvoy Layne). No question will go unanswered because if Mark Twain does not have an answer he will have an opinion. Mark Twain is an excellent historian, where facts are not essential, so bring your sense of humor and love of human nature. On this adventure, we will be hiking with snowshoes, immersing ourselves in the forest on a homemade secluded winter trail. Starting, we will spend 1 hour of hiking up 800’ in elevation at a relaxed and enjoyable pace. Up the mountain, we go through uninterrupted Tahoe National Forest. Guiding through the alpine scenery I’ll be sharing stories of the area, history, as well as local flora and fauna. Roughly halfway, we reach one of the highlights of the hike and the scenic reward of Pauly’s Point, an outcropping of rocks, and our highest point of the adventure. From here, world-renowned ski resorts of Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley are in full view as they nestle into the Sierra Nevada mountains. Breathtaking scenery surrounds us as we take a break for a snack. On our way down, we will take roughly an hour to meander our way back down the mountain through a variety of high alpine meadows, finishing a loop as we reach the end. Due to the seclusion, seeing another person is highly unlikely. So step off the beaten path and allow me to show you a true mountain outing you won’t surely forget. This hike is suitable for all ability levels. However, due to the elevation gain, uneven surfaces, and ever-changing snow conditions. This hike is considered intermediate- moderate in difficulty so be ready to break a little sweat. All who attend will be rewarded greatly by the experience. Other things to note Eat, Hydrate, and use the restroom prior to the hike. No restroom is available at our meeting location. Make sure to have proper footwear for walking through snow for up to 3 hours. A water bottle or camelback is highly recommended for the hike.

Once you book your experience, we'll chat to determine your hiking abilities, the type of camera you'll be shooting with, and your photographic skill level. I'm also available for a private portrait session on the Lake which you can book through my other experience - "Portrait Session on Lake Tahoe." The day we meet, we'll drive separately to a location on the Lake where a short hike will take us down to the shoreline. We'll practice using light to illuminate a scene, the power of reflections, learn the subtle difference perspective makes to create dramatic images, and how to compose an image using the rule of thirds, nines and spirals. Please understand the settings on your camera, aperture mode is fine, but you have the most control over your capture in manual. A wide angle lens and a tripod will afford you the best results. We'll stay a little past sunset just in case it's one of those magical evenings where the sky lights up after the sun dips below the horizon, returning with once in a lifetime images.
