In this experience, you will visit the unparalleled DOURO VALLEY, the first denominated wine region in the world and a world heritage site by UNESCO. The day starts at our meeting point and then we will be heading to the Valley. For the drive we will do a loop around the valley to better see and enjoy all the different landscapes, first driving through the N323 with all the astonishing viewpoints to the valley and where we have the first stop, a small winery from a local producer to try his regular wines (reds and whites from the region), olive oil, and other products produced with olives and everything paired with local bread, jelly, cheeses and hams. At this winery we will have the chance to have a small walk at the vines and depending on the stage of the vineyard, learn about the work being done at the moment, such as, pruning, grafting and harvesting. The second stop is at Pinhão for a typical portuguese lunch at a local tavern with great options for Vegans and Vegetarians. The experience takes you through the process of block printing with linoleum from start to finish. It has been designed to suit the absolute beginner with no artistic background through to someone with a strong creative streak who fancies trying or revisiting the medium. We begin with a brief introduction of what lino printing entails and the tools that are used. We will then look at some examples of work and discuss methods used to achieve different results. Then it's straight into cutting, you will have an opportunity to experiment with the tools and techniques before moving on to the real thing. As for the image, you can design your own, if you feel confident or choose one of the designs I will provide and get straight into cutting the lino. I will be on hand to help with carving techniques and do my best to ensure everyone leaves with all their fingers intact. As soon as the first person is ready to print I will then talk the group through the printing process and demonstrate how to achieve good results. By the end of the session you will have produced your own, original, hand-printed artwork to take home with you. Cross the second Longest Suspension Footbridge in the world, walk the Paiva Walkways, considered one of the most beautiful trails in the world and visit Aveiro, the so called Venice of Portugal! The Paiva Walkways is a 7 km boardwalk zig-zagging down along the left bank of Paiva river at Arouca Geopark, a UNESCO Geological site. The Arouca 516 Footbridge spans 516m-long (1,692ft) across the valley and hangs 175m (576ft) above the Paiva River. Will you dare? After the walk, another highlight of our day: a delicious meal at a typical restaurant in a small town. (meat, fish or vegetarian options available). Time to enjoy a relaxed afternoon at the so called “Portuguese Venice” - the beautiful city of Aveiro! During this Tile Painting Workshop you will learn the highlights of the history of this heritage, how this beautiful tiles were painted traditionally and will have the chance to paint tile replicas of Porto (or your own design). This workshop is perfect for tile lovers. You will take home the best memory of your trip to this beautiful city. Every participant will paint 2 tiles. Learn how to make the famous "Pastel de Nata", so that you can return home and enjoy the traditional Portuguese pastries made by you. While learning how to bake traditional pastries, you can taste a regional wine and learn about Portuguese culture and history through a gastronomic conversation. Once it's ready, it's time to enjoy the learning results with some warm pastries! In this experience, the host will give the participants the opportunity to alternately participate in the different phases of making the pastel de nata.
