Cycling through Old Holland's countryside with windmills
You will set off in a small group by bike through Amsterdam's best-kept secret, the Westzijderveld. This area, with wet meadows that lie just above, or even below, the water table, is a paradise for meadow birds. A farm landscape with long ditches, pollard-willows and cows, turning mills and swaying reed beds is . An example of a truly typical Dutch landscape.
When you cycle over the dike, you feel the wind blowing and you look almost beyond the horizon, where the windmills are turning. You visit a working windmill, where you can experience the power of a windmill yourself. The miller will also be happy to answer your questions. This area is only accessible by bike, there are no groups of tourists here and it is therefore a unique experience.
Next, you will cycle through an authentic neighborhood with working-class houses. You will see with your own eyes how people used to live there and also pass the rich merchant houses with their beautiful decorations.
Finally you will visit the Zaanse Schans, where you will see how they make clogs and there is extensive opportunity to taste the Dutch cheese delicacy.
A great opportunity to experience the dutch landscape, history and culture.

Zaanse Schans & Zaandam with electric bikes
There’s nothing better than spending a day riding through the the countryside of Holland. A short ferry ride and an easy 20-minute cycle through the north of the city and we’ll reach the Waterlands. Soon it’s cows and farmers’ signs offering up freshly made ice-cream and milk.
There are plenty of photo opportunities as we cruise through the countryside en route to the Dutch Heritage site of the Zaanse Schans where you'll you’ll have free time to explore, snap photos, checkout cheese and clog stalls, or visit the first ever Albert Heijn.
Our return journey will bring us back to town via Zaandam and its famous Intelhotel made from nearly 70 traditional Zaanse-style wooden houses.
Since we'll spend most of our time outside the city, the stress of biking in Amsterdam will be minimized.
The Netherlands is relatively flat, one does not need to be in top shape to partake but the ability to be physically active over the course of the tour is recommended. The use of electric bikes on this tour will certainly help make the roughly 40km tour a breeze.
