Night Hike the Jurassic Coast
There is so little time or opportunity nowadays to experience the countryside and coast at night, away from the blinding glare of street lights and vehicles.
My Night Hike on the Jurassic Coast takes you to a quiet part of coastline that is completely free of all light pollution and rich in wildlife.
We will follow well maintained tracks and paths from the village of Worth Matravers in Purbeck along the ancient Priests Way and down winding valleys to the wave-washed rocks at Seacombe or Winspit Coves.
From here we walk along a fenced clifftop path back to the Square and Compass pub in Worth Matravers and on the way I tell tales of the shipwrecked sailors and smugglers that haunt the surrounding cliffs and valleys
Along the way there is a possibility of seeing a variety of nocturnal wildlife such as deer, badgers, bats and owls.
If we are lucky the sky will be clear of clouds and we can enjoy some wonderful star gazing.
Other things to note
The route follows well maintained paths and tracks for the entire route but it is often VERY muddy and slippery so please bring suitable footwear with good grippy soles.
Bright and comfortable head torches can be provided but bring you own if you wish.
Climb at Portland
Portland is home to some of the best Rock Climbing in Dorset. Climbing is becoming a more popular sport since its debut in the 2021 Olympics!
You’ll get to experience one of Portland’s stunning venues and learn how to climb. After a short walk to the Crag (climbing venue), you’ll be kitted up with a helmet and harness. Everyone will take part in a short safety briefing and learn how to belay each other. Afterwards, everyone will get the chance to climb and belay each other. We will be Top-Roping, this means that the rope will run through the top of the wall, perfect if you're not keen on heights.
The crags are great for picnics and photo opportunities. If you’d like to bring your dog, please let us know, as some Crags are a bit tough for paws.
If you are looking to book for 4 - 6 people, please send me a message as we can offer a further discount.
All under 18’s need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Please contact me if you’d like to bring a spectator along.

Guided walks with New Forest Nature and Nurture
We will meet for a guided walk in the New Forest. I can tailor to your needs and delve into the real working forest away from the tourist hotspots while sharing with you my local knowledge of the history, landscape, wildlife and local people to give you a better understanding for this beautiful place and how the grazing animals have shaped the landscape. The walks average 4-7 miles and can easily involve a pub lunch on request. The walks are not limited to daytime, I can be a available at sunrise or sunset to see the best of the wildlife. Longer or shorter walks are available on request.
I would advise contacting me first so we can tailor the walk for you.
A family adventure walk in the dark
This is a fun and adventurous exploration of the countryside and coastline of Purbeck. It is made all the more exciting by venturing forth after dark though no need to be afraid as this adventure makes being out at night fun and enjoyable.
Our adventure starts in the quaint village of Worth Matravers but we are soon heading off the beaten track via the ancient Priests Way. I can take you to a quarry where a series of amazing dinosaur footprint fossils can be seen by torchlight (or moonlight!); at night we can imagine that the dinosaurs are still lurking in the shadows before we discover the secretive Seacombe Valley.
This valley is a real wildlife haven and depending on the time of year we can often spot deer, foxes, badgers, bats and even glow worms. To help us spot the wildlife we will play some great listening, watching and silent walking games.
Finally we reach the sea and explore the deserted quarries at Seacombe Cove, a past haunt of smugglers and still inhabited by the ghosts of shipwrecked sailors.
If we are lucky and the sky is clear of clouds then the stargazing is amazing as we are miles from any street lights and light pollution.
From here we retrace our steps up part of the valley before the final steep hill back to our starting point in the village.

Tour & Tasting of a Cider farm
The Cider Farm Tour and Tasting begins in the Tasting Room with a sample of excellent organic apple juice, and an introduction to the Cider Farm family. We venture into the orchard of 3000 West Country cider apples. You discover some of the fascinating history and folklore behind cider and experience a surprise 'Wassail' or orchard blessing. Bees are important to us and we tell about their role in pollination, chemical free farming and wildlife. I explain how we craft our British Champion Ciders over 8 months from sun ripened apple to crisp, golden nectar in a glass. With a behind the scenes tour of apple pressing, harvesting and bottling equipment, you can see how see we press the apples and produce the ciders. We encourage guests to ask us questions about the art of blending and the alchemy of turning apple into award winning, amber-gold cider. The Tour is completed with a sampling of 4 delicious, handcrafted ciders, all made from organically grown cider apples, from Sweet Maiden cider, Old Harry Rocks vintage, Dorset Wild Cat, to our Elderflower, Ginger or Damson ciders.
After the tour, you can relax in the Cider Garden, admire the art.
Please dress according to the weather with appropriate footwear and coat, as we take you for a walking tour of our orchards.
Meet Bee the sheep with a New Forest commoner
When you arrive I will greet you with a Hot chocolate, Tea or freshly ground coffee.
While you enjoy your drink out in our beautiful gardens adjacent to the paddock, I can chat to you about the breed and how we have come to raise our own flock of Shetlands. I can share my experiences of living in the New Forest and the commoners life.
Then get on your boots, get some fresh air and join me out in our paddock to meet "Bee" and my super friendly flock.
I will teach you how to interact and connect with the sheep in a meaningful way.
I can gear the experience for all age groups, please let me know the age of any younger children attending in advance.
I have built up a fantastic relationship with these animals and "Ewe" will be amazed at how tame they are!!
After you have had enough sheep therapy and the experience ends, you could enjoy the rest of your day in the forest or visit the Royal Oak pub for lunch, a drink or an ice-cream only a short walk away.
Under 4s are welcome but are generally not able to enter the paddock with the sheep. They can however pet the sheep through a gate.
Please note we cannot welcome dogs.
Forest Garden tour
This is an opportunity to get up close and personal with a young but diverse food forest.
The first trees were planted in 2013 so it's far from mature but it's already easy to see many of the symbiotic relationships in action. There are over three hundred edible perennial varieties already growing including forty varieties of fruit & nut trees, dozens of unusual shrubs, berry bushes and medicinal plants, plus seventy kinds of perennial vegetable.
Learn about self-sustaining ecosystems, companion planting and perennial vegetables whilst asking as many questions as you like and tasting some produce along the way.
There'll be a chance to learn more about sustainable bee-keeping with a look at an observation hive for those who wish to.
The tour will be tailored to suit you, depending upon your or your group's existing knowledge or interests. And we can talk about how to apply some forest garden principles to your own plot, if you have one.
Other things to note:
I usually only add availability for about two months in advance. So if you're looking to book further ahead than that then either send me a message to request a date or keep an eye on the calendar, as more dates will appear every month.
I'm open to hosting experiences throughout the winter months, if requested, but the garden is at its best from April to October.

Some tours include the iconic sites of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door whereas others visit world famous Kimmeridge Bay or little known Chapmans Pool.
Regardless of the route I guarantee to take you off the beaten track for plenty of stunning views and countless wonderful photo opportunities.
I recommend bringing a picnic lunch and drinks so we can spend more time out and about.
