Salt Lake Historic Houses of Worship
This walking tour in Salt Lake City visits eight magnificent religious edifices, none of them home to Utah’s predominant religion. Not long after the Mormon Pioneers, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, arrived in the Salt Lake Valley, people of other faiths came too. During the forty-year construction of the Salt Lake Temple, a red sandstone Episcopal cathedral was built a couple of blocks away. Not long after the temple was completed, a magnificent Catholic cathedral opened nearby as well as a lovely Presbyterian church. On this tour, learn the stories behind theses historic religious structures, their architecture, and more.
We'll see:
•St. Mark's Cathedral (Episcopalian, 1871)
•Cathedral of the Madeleine (Catholic, 1909)
•First Presbyterian Church of Salt Lake City (1905)
•Immanuel Baptist Church (1911), now Anthony's Fine Art and Antiques
•Historic B'nai Israel Temple (1891), now a private design firm
•Iglesia La Luz del Mundo (former First Church of Christ Scientist, 1898)
•Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Christian Church (former Congregation Montefiore Synagogue, 1903)
•First United Methodist Church (1905)
I have connected with the churches and businesses on our tour. Some have graciously agreed to let us go inside, depending on their availability.
I hope the architecture and stories inspire you as you glimpse into the diversity that is Utah

On this walking tour, we'll take a glimpse into the past to explore Salt Lake's multi-cultural heritage as well as its pioneering history. We'll stop at a traditional German bakery for a snack. Along the way, we'll see some fantastic public art and architecture including sculptures, murals, and historic buildings.

Farm to Tub Goat Milk Soap
A homemade goat milk soap bar is a wonderful, handcrafted artisan experience! Meet and connect with our small milk goat herd of Nubian and Oberhasli goats. Our dairy goats are so sweet and fun. They love scratches on their heads and shoulders. We will start our class with a tour of our 8 acre urban farmstead where you will meet the goats, pigs and horses that call our farm home. We will explain a bit about care, feed and milking goats. Goat milk fact: goat milk is the only milk naturally homogenized and digestible by all mammals, hence the term nanny goat. We will be making a cold process soap with goat milk, coconut oil, olive oil, lard and lye. Safety first! Lye can be dangerous. We provide chemical resistant goggles and long cuff gloves. Please wear long sleeves and pants and closed shoes. We will weigh ingredients, melt fats and oils, prepare milk and lye mixture and learn about tracing and saponification. The soap mixture will be put into molds to set (soap is hard and ready to be unmolded in 24 hours and ready to use in 4 - 6 weeks). You will be leaving with aged bar of goat milk soap ready to be used on your skin and hair. We love our goats and our farm made goat milk soap and we look forward to sharing with you.
Other things to note
We will be handling lye.

Date Night Hand Making Rings
This is a hands-on class where guests will be taking metal and shaping it into jewelry. I’ll provide enough silver and/or copper for each guest to make a ring or a set of earrings. We’ll spend a short time going over safety and then you’ll have to decide what you want to make. I’ll provide examples of already made jewelry to use as templates if guests need ideas. By the end of the session each guest will have a piece of handmade jewelry to take home with them. Some date night couples like to make rings for each other instead of making jewelry for themselves.
Other things to note
Bring your eyeglasses. Come prepared to get your hands dirty and dress appropriately.

Movie & Television filming locations in Salt Lake City
Visit filming locations of Hollywood movies, horror favorites, indie festival flicks, and television hits. Utah has been the backdrop of thousands of movies and TV episodes. Whether recognized or not, you've seen Utah in your favorite movies and TV shows. We'll walk the streets of Utah's capitol city to see where some of these movies and TV shows were made.
Along the journey, we'll talk about restaurants that have been featured on TV and as movie sets. We'll even stop at a quintessential Salt Lake eatery that was featured on Travel Channel for a burger and at a lovely boutique bakery that used for a Hallmark Christmas film.
Some films and shows we'll visit locations for include Dumb and Dumber, the Halloween franchise, SLC Punk!, Touched by an Angel, 12 Gifts of Christmas, The Mistle-Tones, High School Musical The Musical The Series, Andi Mack, and Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas. I'll also share several other movies and TV shows and their filming locations that you may come across during your time in Utah.
Handmake Rings, Earings, & Pendants
We'll start with an orientation & go over some safety protocols as you'll be handling hand tools. Then you'll have a chance to look through samples of finished earrings, pendants, and rings while we talk about what you want to make. You can choose to follow a template or you can create something totally new. I'll be with you, guiding and teaching as you take a raw piece of metal and shape it into a gorgeous piece of jewelry.
When you walk away you'll have a ring, but you'll also have an experience with a story to tell. People will compliment your jewelry and you'll be able to say, "Really? Thanks! I made it." Or, "My husband made it for me!" There's something magical about shaping building jewelry with a special person in mind.
Other things to note
Come prepared to get your hands dirty and dress appropriately. Bring your glasses.
