Our tour will begin on the farm with a welcome drink. While relaxing in a shaded part of the farm, I will present our community movement and teach you about how we grow our organic produce. After enjoying the welcome drink, we will walk along the community farm and learn about organic farming and the unique UNESCO- protected Subak System in Bali. During the farm tour, we will pick the ingredients that we are going to use during the cooking class for a true farm to table cooking experience. Once we arrive at the centre of the community, Mai Organic farm, we will drink a refreshing juice made with vegetables and fruit from our local farms. Following the drink, we will prepare six Balinese dishes, such as tuna sate and corn fritters. Students are able to participate as much or as little as they would like. We keep our class sizes small (max 8 people) to allow guests to be more involved in the cooking process and to provide better attention to each guest. To start your lovely day with us, we will take you to our traditional market (market tour only for morning class as it is close at 1 PM) where we will walk along and show to you some of our spices & traditional herbs, and the morning traditional market activities (will not buy any products since the ingredients for the cooking are already acquire and prepare). *Pick-up information : if you are in Ubud Central area return free transport is included, but if you are out of Ubud Central area there is surcharge for the return transport, the amount is depend on how far that you are. We will continue our journey to enjoy the fresh air in a rice paddy field at Tengkulak Village. Once you arrive at our home, we will greet you with our traditional Balinese home atmosphere and we will serve you with traditional Balinese cakes, while enjoying our freshly mixed welcome drink. The highlight of the class is the authentic Balinese cooking class that set in a traditional Balinese compound. We do not just teach you how we create delicious Balinese dishes but we also explain to you how we use herbs and spices for Balinese traditional medicine. This class is not demonstration but you will have helpers to assist you.
