Our family has long ties to the life-saving station and it has a great displays and a plethora of literature that details the role they played in the area’s history.
This is OBX history at its best featuring artifacts of the areas first rescue people! As fire and rescue people, we are partial to the subject matter; it's interesting for all persons! Ask for Leandra-she loves to talk about this history!
Go visit a restored life saving station and catch a reenactment of a lyle gun being used! So fun!
Chicamacomico was the first of seven Life-Saving Stations built in North Carolina in 1874 and is one of the most unique historical maritime sites on the East coast.
