A cheap way to see the amazing architecture along the river - no guided tour, but super affordable & much to look at! Can take it from Michigan Ave all the way to Chinatown - then just turn around and ride back, or explore Chinatown & have a great meal and visit the gift stores for an affordable little gift.

The water taxi picks up at the river pagoda in Ping Tom park and travels round trip to a few different stops downtown. This is my preferred method of transit — consider it a freestyle architecture tour.

Not listed in any guide book or tourist website. The water taxi is part of the Transit system. Hop on at Michigan & Wacker, leaves every 15 minutes. Purchase a return ticket while on the taxi, going all the way to Chinatown. Check out the amazing mall with excellent cuisines, walk around to see the old Chinatown a couple blocks down. Hopefully, you will return on the taxi when the sun is down and you get to see the river and the city when it is lit up and glowing.

During spring/summer months you can hop on the water taxi. The Chinatown stop is about a 10 minute walk and it takes you all the way downtown!
