If the sun is shining you must go to the Fern Pit Café for lunch, or even just a cream tea. Set in amazing gardens overlooking the estuary and Crantock beach. Expect to be greeted by lobster pots and fishing gear as the café is run by a family of fishermen, so unsurprisingly their crab sandwich is amazing. Open 10am – 6pm.
My partner Paul recommends a visit to this place for its dressed crab. It sits atop the Newquay side of the Gannel. There's some more information on their website, mentioning gorgeous views over the Gannel.
A friendly local cafe with lovely views overlooking Crantock beach and has steps down to the Ferry. The ferry is reached via steps down to the Crantock beach. They are steep but have great views! The ferry is generally running 9.30am and 6pm during the open season (end may – mid september) or from Crantock Beach across the River Gannel. You can walk there from town or there's limited parking outside and a car park on Pentire headland nearby. Pentire Headland has some beautiful walkways with stunning sea views.
