A marvellous public recreation area, with beaches, cafe, grills, toilets. Bring hour ovn Ford. It is situated on an island with much history, a fishoilmuseum and old buildnings. Take the buss to alvern. Walk to the harbour. Call the local ferryman "Undine" +47 908 34 585. The ferryservice is open from 18 may to 26 of august from 1200 - 1900. Costs are 40kr for adults and 20 for kids. He will Also bring you back befare 1900. You can ask him to bring you to the other smaller Islands as well

The five islands in the Steilene, located off Alværn on Nesodden, slowly rose from the sea for approx. 2000 years ago because of the landslide after the last ice age. The surface water masses and a bit down in the depths of the Steilene basin are saturated with oxygen and have good environmental quality
