This is one of those "I can't believe they built this out here" destinations. A listening telescope with a dish that is approx 320 feet across. The telescope is about an hour and 45 minutes away, so try and plan other sightseeing along the way. Check hours on line before going. They are closed certain days.

If you are interested in astronomy, engineering or physics, this place is well worth the visit! There are several operational telescopes, but the GBT (Great Big Telescope) is the most awesome thing there. Close by the railway tours, so plan a day for this and the railway tour!
The NRAO has a lot to offer for the science mind, the telescope is the largest in the world, lots of neat activities to do, theres even a pool!
