Benajarafe is a small coastal village west of Malaga in the Axarquia region. It has a small selection of shops: a butcher, pharmacy, tobacconists, bank with cashpoint and a small local supermarket, which is open on Sunday. The Chinese Bazaar sells anything and everything! It is a good source for children’s arts and crafts items and everything you could want for the beach. Salvadore is an excellent artisan bakery selling freshly baked breads and cakes. There is a small local market on Saturdays and a visit after to Bar Sanchez to sample the freshly cooked Churros is recommended! A short drive is Mercadona supermarket which has a good selection of fresh fruit and veg, staple produce and a fresh fish counter who will prepare your fish for the bbq. Along the beach from there are a good selection of restaurants, bars and coffee shops and several chiringuitos along the beach serving freshly caught, local fish. Hipica El Trebol are close to Montebello and they offer a variety of rides to suit all. Torre del Mar is the nearest town, 15-minutes’ drive along the beautiful coast road or 15 minutes by bus. With a pretty promenade lined with restaurants and bars, there is also a pedestrianised shopping area. A further 5-minute drive away is El Ingenio Shopping Centre which has a variety of high street names and a large supermarket, Eroski. Opposite is Aquavelis Water Park offering great fun for the family. Malaga is 30 minutes’ drive by car or an hour by bus and has everything a city has to offer from theatre, flamenco, art galleries, bars, restaurants and historical buildings. There is a frequent bus service along the coast road to Torre del Mar and Malaga. Surrounding Benajarafe are many wonderful towns and whitewashed mountain villages to explore.

Great little coastal town with many chiringuitos (beach cafes). We recommend “Heladeria Mirro” for breakfast or cocktails!
The local beach area with a long row of beach bars and seafood restaurants. Less crowded than Torre Del Mar.
Pueblo costero. Mi lugar favorito de playa y chiringuitos. Calidad y precio en cualquiera de los chiringuitos muy recomendable.
