Marsaxlokk is famous for its Sunday morning fish market and its promenade, lined with mainly fish restaurants and bustling with fishermen tending to their nets of traditional colourful boats.
Local Fish Village. Nice place to visit and meet the locals fishers, to buy fresh fish and lovely scenery.
Fishing village. If you don’t like crowd, go there any day but Sunday. If you want to see the traditional market, than visit the village on Sunday. Fish restaurants are open every day. Take beautiful photo of colourful boats or take a boat ride to nearby bay. You can go there by hop on-hop off bus, public bus from Valletta or private car.
The Marsaxlokk church was built in 1897 and is dedicated to the Madonna of Pompeii. The village holds three annual religious celebrations: on the 8th of May, on the first Sunday in August and the first Sunday in October. The statue of the Madonna and child was commission in Lecce, Italy, in 1900.
