Tonic Gallery was established in 2015, Salcombe, where it was located on Island Street and then moved into the town centre in 2019. The gallery was founded by Greg and Charlotte Ramsden, a husband and wife duo. Tonic Gallery specialises in Marine Art of the surrounding area with a variety of artists exploring the natural coastline and has a particular focus on originals and ceramics. Since its inception, the gallery has commissioned a significant number of works by a variety of artists. Director, Greg Ramsden is an established artist, with his work collected worldwide and now on display in Tonic Gallery. Greg is also a trustee of the South West Academy of Artists as their lead exhibition manager. Tonic Gallery represents artists such as Ben Mowll President of the Royal Society of Marine Artist, Mike Bernard of the Royal Institute, Lucy Pratt, Tony Williams and Greg Ramsden. Tonic Gallery also displays ceramics from across the nation by Mitch Pilkington, Hilary LaForce and Alex McCarthy. The ceramics have a strong coastal theme intertwined within the making process, whether that be in the raw materials used, the colour of the glazes or the sculptural quality of the pieces.
