The Benton-Houston Ferry is one of only two ferries in the state and considered the last ferry operating on the Tennessee River. This ferry is more than just a river boat, its a part of local life. It travels across the Tennessee River between Benton and Houston counties. Many locals rely on the ferry service to get to work. Many visitors enjoy the ride on the water to visit the nearby Southernaire Motel and Restaurant which is well known for its delicious country cooking like white beans and cornbread. Where ever you are going, the stunning panorama of the river is one of the most beautiful views you will find in the area! The ferry operates daily but does not run in severe weather. HOW TO FIND THE DEPARTURE POINT It is located on Danville Road / State Route 147 in Big Sandy, approximately 2 miles west of McKinnon in Houston County. LENGTH OF EXCURSION The trip takes about 20 minutes. HOURS SEASONS OPEN AND DEPARTURE TIMES Monday thru Friday - 5:30 am. to 6:00 pm Saturday and Sunday - 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
