Rapolano Terme is a small village that is home to an important spa, already known in Roman times. The thermal spring waters are two: the Terme di San Giovanni, in the open country, and the Ancient Querciolaia not far from the center. In addition to the two spas, Rapolano presents the natural and archaeological sites that are worth visiting. Not far from the Terme di San Giovanni it is the archaeological site of Campo Muri, with the remains of a settlement from the Etruscan and Roman times with a votive pit called Buca delle Fate, where they celebrated the cult of the thermal waters. Near the Terme Querciolaia is the Water Park, a park dedicated to the travertine formed with limestone deposits of thermal waters, there are sculptures and findings. The “Back Donkey” and “Polecat” are two natural areas created by the thermal waters. Also worth seeing is the Museum of Ancient Grange, the grain storage restored to its splendor and the Oil Museum to find out machinery and equipment of one-time farming. Not far also the village of Modanella with the medieval castle.
