This residence of local ruling family with long history and remarkable look is built in Muromachi period (1336-1573). It is the oldest private residential building exists and is designated as Important Cultural Properties by the nation. If you look at the floor and doors shaved by hand axe with wooden texture still remained, you can feel its long history can be felt. You can take a look its history at the archive center, which is turned from a warehouse exhibiting actual farming equipments used at that time and a model of Hakogi's residence.
