This 100% unassuming Mexican-Salvadoran restaurant had big shoes to fill, replacing the beloved Cuco’s taquería that departed in 2014. But Emanuel is a worthy successor, with a surprisingly big menu and lots of foods you can’t really get in the immediate area, like fantastic pupusas, panuchos, and empanadas, all for completely reasonable prices. There aren’t many weekday breakfast options in the neighborhood, but Emanuel has you covered. Try the Salvadoran chorizo breakfast, with its spicy scrambled eggs and side of fried plantains, to start your workday right.
