Start at Merimbula, turn left directly after crossing the bridge and walk the 4 km return. Absolutely magical experience. Stop at the other end for coffee and cake at the Lakeside Cafe.
Lovely to do when the tide is out as you see the crabs and when the tide is in you see the fish.
Merimbula Boardwalk meanders around the lake shore and through mangrove forests, under eucalyptus canopies and past pristine oyster farms. It’s famous for sunset views, and dotted with seats and jetties to enjoy them. Look for Merimbula’s resident seal, who sleeps nearby and patrols the oyster leases looking for fish to snack on. Top Lake Boat Hire and Sunset Kiosk at the Lakewood Drive end of the walk is a great place to enjoy the views, or hire a boat or kayak to get out on the water. Begin from Lakewood Drive at the back of the lake or park next to the bridge at the bottom of Market Street. The boardwalk is suitable for wheelchairs and dog friendly (on leash please). Distance: 3.4km return

If you are feeling like a bit of sight seeing the board walk is the best way to see the lake.
