METRO DELL'ARTE [21] Even the new metro stations of Naples can be considered innovative works of art. Piazza Dante and Toledo stations (just to mention the ones on this route), certainly are worth a visit. The Neapolitan subway has been declared the most beautiful in Europe and is, perhaps, among the most extraordinary in the world.

Toledo is one of the Naples Metro Art Stations, considered the most beautiful in Europe by the Daily Telegraph and CNN and was designed by Spanish architect Oscar Tusquets. It is very impressive because it is lit by large skylights and there are some remains of the ancient Aragonese walls found during excavations. It is enriched by two large mosaics made emulating the Pompeian style, and as you go down the escalators, you are immersed in a marine-themed environment, the so-called sea gallery. The corridors are decorated with aquatic-themed mosaics, and in the long corridor there are panels depicting the movement of waves.
