North Crestone Creek Trail is a 11.3 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Crestone, Colorado that features a lake and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, camping, and backpacking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The camp ground is a jump off to many trails. It can be as long or as short a hike as you want to make it.
It leads to a trail head for great hiking, and the creek and mountains are exceptionally beautiful.
This is where you find the trailhead to my favorite local hike--North Crestone Creek Trail. About an hour in you arrive at the Sangre de Cristo wilderness boundary. However--please check timing as the forest service closes the entry gate around Memorial Day and Labor day. It's only open in summer.
