Founded in 1863 when Brooklyn was its own city, BHS covers 400 years of Brooklyn's development through photographs, paintings, memorabilia and interactive exhibitions. Open Wednesday - Saturday.
Brooklyn Historical Society On the 2nd floor of Empire Stores, there is a small off-shoot of the main Brooklyn Historical Society located in Brooklyn Heights. There is one exhibit and it is ongoing through 2022. It’s called Waterfront. This is a multimedia exhibit that showcases the history of Brooklyn’s shoreline through photographs and stories from families, artists, activists, workers and more, that bring the story of the coastline to life. The exhibit is open Tuesday – Sunday 11 am – 6 pm. Admission is “suggested”, which means you can visit for free or pay what you like.
