Smallest but nearest beach to Portsmouth, near pubs and also nice cafes
A collection of local traders - arts and crafts set into the original defensive walls of the harbour. Just the place for a souvenir of Southsea. Called ‘Hot Walls’ as a popular place to sunbathe and watch ships negotiating the narrow harbour entrance
Open studios visits reveal behind-the-scenes arts and crafts innovation at its best.
The Hotwalls Studios brings artists and designer-makers together in an exceptional heritage location, to start and grow their creative ventures in an environment of mutual support, creativity and innovation. The Hotwalls Studios has given a new lease of life to this incredible heritage site, while at the same time helping to expand the city’s creative industries and providing new jobs and business opportunities. The site has a fascinating history as part of the city’s historic defences against invasion. In 2014, Portsmouth City Council secured funding to transform its largely disused buildings into a vibrant new creative quarter. Our makers work from thirteen studios, alongside deli-style café – The Canteen.'
