Our favorite sno-park, good for adults and kids. Pick up a pass for parking first!
Sno-parks are parking areas maintained in the winter to allow people to park safely and pursue winter activities such as cross-country skiing or snowmobiling. They have pit toilets. To use a sno-park you must have a permit for $5 or annual pass. Passes can be purchased at Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods, or Sierra Nevada Adventure Co.
If you don’t want to skiing but want to play in snow then go here. You can find different parks along this highway and nearby. You need to buy park ticket in town. Pack food and bring your snow toys. Please carful with (wild) kids and play safe. The snow park is public park and you need to find a spot to play safe.
Sledding! One of 3 "SNO Parks" along Highway 4. Sno-Parks are designated winter recreation areas with parking, maintained by the State Forest Service. You can get your day passes at SNAC or Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods in Arnold, or purchase them online for $5. One pass is good for all Sno-Parks. At this snow park you can also hike into Lake Alpine. The highway is closed right before the lake, but serves as a great hiking trail.
