The Hertz Trail at lakeside is almost completely flat; a great place to go for a run or an easy bike ride. For a more challenging hike, check out the Chantrelle Trail which heads up the hills to a stunning overlook of Lake Whatcom.
Nice hiking and mtb trails. The Hertz trail is an easy flat one that hugs the lake and the Chanterelle trail is another one that starts in the same parking lot that goes up Stewart Mountain to the scenic Chanterelle overlook. This trail is a shared bike and hike trail on the way up but bikes are not allowed down. Bikes can take Brown Pow a challenging Mtb trail or the truck road back down. There are plans to connect these upper trails in a loop back to the hertz trail that currently are slated to happen in late 2022 or 2023. The trail forks app is a good one to have while hiking or mountain biking that shows maps of trails and allows you to navigate them with info on distance elevation etc and also shows access points.

Easy access to the Lake with stunning views of the surrounding mountains! Park in the lot and walk down the trail to find your own little beach area to settle in for a fun afternoon.
