One of the finest stone circles in the north of England, Long Meg and Her Daughters stone circle has a diameter of about 350 feet, the second biggest in the country. Long Meg is the tallest of the 69 stones, about 12 feet high, with three mysterious symbols, its four corners facing the points of the compass and standing some 60 feet outside the circle. William Wordsworth wrote ‘Next to Stonehenge it is beyond dispute the most notable relic that this or probably any other country contains.’

A 10 minute drive, from the lodge and you can drive right up to this historic stone circle or park just outside Kirkoswald and walk along the Lacy Caves/Long Meg loop. This is a fantastic walk with spectacular views of the River Eden, Lacy Caves, Long Meg and down across the Eden Valley.
Ancient site of stone circle. Few easy walks around here, through woods and beautiful Addingham church. You can also walk to Raven bridge. drop down to lacy caves to make a longer walk or the watermill for refreshments.
