For those wishing to taste authentic Hawaiian faire... this is the place. While here, check out Sunshine Arts (a gallery) just across the street. Makes for a nice 1/2 day outing :)
Most visitors don't enjoy poi, but if you have a sweet tooth try their Sweet Lady of Waiahole, warm kulolo (poi pudding) with haupia (coconut) ice cream. My favorite is the ho'io salad. Ho'io is a fern that some call the Hawaiian asparagus.
A perfect way to immerse yourself in old Hawaii. This is a special place just off the road for authentic Hawaiian food and authentic island scenes.

They also offer refreshingly sweet Mamake Tea and Haupia (coconut pudding) for dessert or to quench your thirst. The market right next door offers native made apparels and home goods to bring home made in the islands.
