Museum of Idaho is not far from your location. You can drive there or if the weather is particularly nice you can walk.
The Museum of Idaho hosts traveling exhibits as well as a permanent local history exhibit. The building itself is also historic- it used to be the Idaho Falls public library, and it was built with money from a Carnegie grant. I especially love the old Eagle Rock townsite replica on the ground floor!
They always have a really great exhibit and a local museum of special collections related to the local area
Great Museum! They always have a fun new Main display and lots of side displays. Very enjoyable!
