If you really want to explore historical places Paraty is worth the drive. It does take 3 hours to drive but you will not be disappointed. It is in the state of Rio De Janerio and it is steeped in history. I would recommend staying overnight here to experience the town fully.

Just have a look at this URL (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraty) and you will understand why this small historical town is a must. You cannot miss it!
