With a total of eight "corrales" (fish pens), Andalusia's first designated Natural Monument comprises a small strip of the Atlantic Ocean with its beach, facing the towns of Rota and Chipiona. CORRALES DE ROTA: Se trata de ocho muros de construcción artificial, algunos de la época romana, creados con el objetivo de que peces, sepias y pulpos, entre otros, queden atrapados dentro cuando baja la marea. Tras esto, surge un arrecife costero con una gran diversidad de especies. Es el primer Monumento Natural declarado en Andalucía.
