Perched on a rocky sandstone crag & built in 1220s - a short walk, but not on the flat.

Great for a walk up to the ruin castle and to admire the very deep well! Great to cycle past on the Cheshire Cycle Path too!

Famous for its siege during 1645. You need to be fit to get to the top but it's a nice walk and worth the trip. A drink and meal in The Shady Oak afterwards is a good reward.

Beeston Castle is a former Royal castle in Beeston, Cheshire, England, perched on a rocky sandstone crag 350 feet above the Cheshire Plain. It was built in the 1220s by Ranulf de Blondeville, 6th Earl of Chester, on his return from the Crusades. So says Wikipedia
