It's downtown where you can find the Egyptian museum and international restaurants and option for local restaurants as well.

There is a reason why the revolution took place there. It's the center where all trade takes place and the original Cairo architecture is located. Go for a walk in the downtown area and find a hidden pub at the base of a building or on top of an old hotel for a classic taste of Cairo. Got a knackering for some authentic Egyptian food then downtown is the place to go exploring with your taste buds tagging along. Easiest way to go there is take the metro and switch tracks to go out directly smack dab in the middle of Tahrir Square.
