Under your feet lies the remains from first settlers in Paris, from the Gallo-Romans to the the Parisii Tribe (from which Paris gets its name) which can be seen by visiting this Crypt below Notre Dame

This refreshing and very calm museum, just under Notre-Dame stunning cathedral, has incredible remains from the roman, the mediaeval and the haussmanian periods

In the crypt are cellars & foundations from many layers of Paris: Roman building with central heating, wall to keep the Franks out, medieval road that led to Notre Dame square, 19th-century sewer
