Vence is a beautiful, medieval town. Wandering the old town and its ancient streets, you feel you have stepped back in time. The town is famous for its many freshwater fountains and ancient ash tree which stands opposite the entrance to the local museum. The museum hosts art exhibitions and often features artists who lived in Vence at some time during their careers : Matisse, Dufy, Chagall and Dubuffet to name a few. Local artists display their work in galeries dotted around the old town and there are also some lovely boutiques to discover. If you are looking for a moment of tranquillity, slip into the cool sanctuary of the town's small cathedral. Don't miss the mosaic of Moses created by Marc Chagall. If you want to relax and people watch, head to Coffea, also on place Clemenceau, and enjoy a tea or a coffee as you watch the world go by.
